CBD Coffee: Why Is It So Popular?

There are countless ways to enjoy cannabis in your food and beverages, with CBD coffee being one of the most popular options. Since many of us start our day with a caffeine kick, adding CBD oil to your coffee or brewing a cannabis-infused blend is an excellent way to enjoy two things you love at the same time. Here’s a bit more about this popular trend.

CBD has been popping up in lattes across the country. If you're looking for a quick pick-me-up, you might want to stop at your local coffee shop. They're now serving CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant.

You aren’t alone if you enjoy the aroma, flavor, and pick-me-up effect of your daily coffee—but don’t love that it makes you a bit anxious or jittery. So, in addition to the general benefits of CBD, you may experience the added benefit of soothing your caffeine-induced anxiety and jitters.

If not to your coffee, consider adding CBD to your bulletproof coffee, turmeric coffee, or tea of choice. So, maybe one serving to your caffeinated morning beverage and another serving to your afternoon or bedtime non-caffeinated beverage.

You won’t know until you try it for yourself! Many who start experimenting with different infused coffee recipes, or start taking a CBD supplement at the same time they drink their coffee, are pleasantly surprised as they didn’t notice that their morning pick-me-up was making them anxious or jittery until CBD took things down a notch.

Does CBD Coffee Get You High?

Does CBD Coffee Get You High?

Nope! As long as you are taking a CBD supplement you won’t get high as it contains 0.3% THC or less. However, if marijuana is legal in your state and you are ordering from a restaurant that serves cannabis-infused coffee, confirm whether or not it is CBD or marijuana.

How Much CBD Should You Add To Your Coffee?

How Much CBD Should You Add To Your Coffee?

Your CBD serving size is something you must determine for yourself or with the guidance of a healthcare professional. In addition to your daily milligrams, how much you add to your coffee may also be influenced by how your oil tincture changes the flavor profile. It will be more noticeable in black coffee or black tea than in coffee or tea with milk or multi-ingredients. Many people start with half a dropper and go from there to see how it impacts the flavor profile. The longer you drink infused coffee the less you will notice the difference in flavor.

Be mindful that the cannabis serving size is always degraded a bit when added to food or beverages, especially when added to something that is steamy hot like coffee or tea.

The fastest and easiest way to add your oil tincture to your coffee is to stir it in your cup. For more even distribution, whisk it in with your milk before adding it to your coffee or blend it into your iced coffee.

Or skip stirring, whisking, or blending altogether by purchasing CBD-infused coffee. That’s right, there are many companies that roast CBD into their coffee beans so that all you have to do is brew and enjoy. Some of the best cannabis-infused coffee brands include:

  1. Green Roads French Vanilla
  2. Sträva Craft Coffee
  3. Willie’s Remedy
  4. Buddha Beans

If you find that CBD eases your caffeine-induced jitters, you may be tempted to add it to every cup you drink. However, you must be mindful of how many milligrams of CBD you are consuming. Calculate how many milligrams you want to take each morning and divide that by how many cups of coffee you plan to drink.

Also, consider the speed at which you drink your coffee. For example, you may down your first cup fairly quickly and savor your next cup, only adding CBD to the first. Or you may brew a multi-cup to-go container and drink it gradually before lunchtime adding two servings to the container. If you drink coffee multiple times throughout the day, you may only add CBD to one or two cups.
